We are thrilled to announce an impressive milestone for the Volunteer Attorney Program (VAP) team at New Mexico Legal Aid. As of September 13, 2024, the VAP team has already surpassed the total number of clients served in 2023—an incredible achievement made possible by the dedication of our staff and volunteer attorneys!

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the VAP team and the support of NMLA staff, we have provided crucial legal services to hundreds of clients across New Mexico, ensuring access to justice for those in need.

2023 Year-End Stats:

• 20 In-Person Legal Fairs & Teleclinics
• 768 LSC-Eligible Clients Served out of 1,361 Applications
• 56% of Clients were LSC-Eligible

2024 Year-to-Date Stats (as of 09/13/24):

• 19 In-Person Legal Fairs & Teleclinics (with 11 more scheduled through November)
• 780 Eligible Clients Served (726 LSC-Eligible, 54 Rural Senior Grant-Eligible) out of 1,123 Applications
• 65% of Clients were LSC-Eligible, with 69% Overall Eligibility Including Rural Senior Grant

With 11 more legal fairs and teleclinics scheduled through November, we are on track to make 2024 a record-breaking year for client service. Thank you to everyone involved in making this success possible! Together, we are expanding access to justice for individuals and families throughout the state.
