New Mexico Legal Aid Extends Intake Phone Line Hours
to Serve More Community Members in Need

Intake Phone House Announcement

New Mexico Legal Aid is proud to announce that it is expanding the hours during which applicants can call the Intake Phone Line for legal help.

The Intake Phone Line hours are now Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.

New Mexico Legal Aid offers help on various legal issues, including advising tenants about their rights, domestic abuse protection, consumer protection, and more.

But there are limitations on types of legal issues:

Did you know that across the country, legal aid programs are only able to offer legal help to less than 30% of low-income people who need legal help? (see LSC’S 2022 Justice Gap report)

Did you know New Mexico law does not provide a “right to have an attorney appointed” for most legal issues?

Because New Mexico Legal Aid can only offer legal help to one out of every four people who need it, it offers different types of legal help, from short-term advice to more extended, in-depth services (on a case-by-case basis).

New Mexico Legal Aid does have screening requirements for eligibility that include financial level, type of legal issue, complexity of the legal issue, and representation requirements imposed upon law firms.

Please call our Intake Phone Line to find out whether your situation is one that New Mexico Legal Aid can help you with. 1-833-LGL-HELP (1-833-545-4357). You can also apply online 24/7 from our website, www.newmexicolegalaid.org. Hablamos español.
