It is with heavy hearts that we at New Mexico Legal Aid and its Board of Directors extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of David Hall, whose passing marks the end of an era in legal aid advocacy and service. 

David, the founder and steadfast leader of Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, not only shaped the path for legal aid in Texas but left an indelible mark on the national canvas of legal service to communities in need. For 42 years, David steered the TRLA with unwavering dedication and an unbreakable spirit that saw the organization through countless successes and challenges. 

David was not just a leader; he was a mentor, advocate, and true legal legend, featured aptly in the Texas Legal Legends project. His stories and perspectives, his approach toward legal aid, and his intrinsic empathy for underserved communities will continue to inspire generations of legal aid advocates. 

In memory of David, we celebrate a life phenomenally lived, advocating for justice, equality, and change. His legacy will linger in the corridors of every legal aid organization, encouraging us to persist, persevere, and champion the causes close to our hearts. 

During this time of sorrow, our thoughts are with David’s loved ones and everyone at the Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid. May you find solace in the lasting impact of his remarkable journey and the myriad lives he touched with his invaluable work.
